A remarkable transfer to Manchester United has gained considerable momentum after two analysts outlined how a shift to Old Trafford is not as improbable as it may first appear.

Palmer has tapped into his elite skills since leaving Manchester City for Chelsea in the summer of 2023 in a deal worth £40 million, netting an impressive 48 goals along with 29 assists across 110 matches, achieving a goal/assist ratio of one every 1.42 games.
Although the 23-year-old has not consistently performed at his peak recently, he has still managed to find the net five times from just 849 minutes of playing time this season.
Following a noteworthy assertion by The Sun that Palmer feels discontent in London and is prepared to seek a return to his north-west roots, rumors about a major transfer to Old Trafford are beginning to gain serious momentum.
It is rumored that the player, who has represented England 12 times, is considering submitting a transfer request to leave Stamford Bridge in order to facilitate a move. With Manchester United poised to take advantage of this situation, the transfer speculation has received further validation.
When questioned about the viability of the transfer and how Chelsea might react to the gossip, former Premier League player Darren Ambrose discussed on Sky Sports News:
"They're likely not to appreciate this, and I don't believe Liam Rosenior will be fond of it either.
"Even though he has faced injury challenges, he remains their key player. He is undoubtedly the best talent at Chelsea when in form.
"On the other hand, Manchester United seems to be making progress, and while they presently have an interim manager in Michael Carrick—who knows how that situation will unfold and who their permanent manager will be—it’s unpredictable…
"However, I genuinely doubt that a transfer will materialize this January. Pulling that off would require a significant financial commitment if they aim to complete it in January. This could very well be an option for the future…"
Ambrose further articulated why a notable and costly departure from Chelsea should not be dismissed moving forward, stating: "You understand Chelsea's approach; they acquire young talents and subsequently sell them for a substantial profit.
"Cole Palmer is still just 23, yet it feels as though he has been around much longer, but he is still only 23, so I envision this issue continuing until summer, without a doubt.
"He is crucial to Chelsea’s ambitions, and for Rosenior, if he intends to be there for a considerable portion of his [six-year] contract, he will certainly want to retain Cole Palmer."

Brought up in Wythenshawe by a family that supports Manchester United, it is reported that Cole Palmer was named in honor of United Treble winner Andy Cole. Additionally, his choice to wear the No.10 jersey is a tribute to his admiration for former United star Wayne Rooney.
Although United’s decision not to recruit him into their youth academy ultimately benefited City, Palmer has previously demonstrated his willingness to seek a transfer when he believes it will advance his career goals.
Now, with the possibility of an opportunity to join United arising, ex-City player Marcel Desailly has discussed why Palmer’s potential departure from Chelsea cannot be dismissed.
“If Cole Palmer chooses to leave Chelsea, that is his decision, but I just hope he honors the club, as they are the ones who have provided him with the resources to develop into the player he has become,” Desailly shared with Card Player. “I would like to see him remain at Stamford Bridge because he plays an essential role in the squad, even if Enzo Maresca has utilized him in different roles.
“I think Palmer is seeking greater stability and a system tailored to his strengths, but he first needs to recuperate fully from his groin injury and regain peak fitness. His recent performances are telling, so he should remain grounded and reintegrate into the team to support the club, regardless of his decision to stay or leave.
“The key issue is whether he believes Chelsea can secure the Premier League title in the upcoming two years. If he feels they cannot, I have no doubt he will consider requesting a transfer to a club that will create a system that suits him. For the time being, he must regain his previous form to assist Chelsea and their new manager during this time.”
