According to report from ESPN, Manchester City have step up their pursuit of River Plate midfielder Claudio Echeverri.

The Argentina youngster is close to sealing agreement with the Premier League club and if the report is to be believe, the agreement is on the final stage with the Premier League champions set to activate his release clause which is £21.4m.
The 17 years old was pivotal to Argentina success at the just concluded FIFA Under-17 world cup, scoring an hatrick in the team semi-final loss to Germany.
The youngster also attract interest from Barcelona but the Catalan giant financial situation prove to be a a stumbling block, so a move to Spain is not yet ruled out until there is an official confirmation that a move to England is sealed.
It was announced that the 17 year old will not will not extend his contract which end in December 2024 with the Argentine power house .
Manchester City are looking for a long term replacement for their midfield meaatro Kevin de Bruyne who has struggled for injuries and fitness issues in the past few years.
According to report, Manchester City are set to sign him in January and send him back to River Plate on loan till the end of the season.
