Marco Silva journey as a football manager started in 2011 when he took charge of Estoril who by then was playing in the Segunda Division.

Marco Silva previously worked with Estoril and Sporting Lisbon in his native Portugal before heading to Greece with Olympiakos in 2015-2016 season.

He moved to the Premier League in 2017 where he took charge of Hull City, he was unable to keep the Tigers in the league and were demoted to the English League Championship and he later signed a contract with Watford.

His time with Watford was not a good spell as he was sacked Midway through the season.

Marco Silva also manage Everton in 2018-2019 season.

Estoril ( 2011 - 2014 )

Marco Silva's time with Estoril was a starting point of his coaching journey, he was appointed a manager of Estoril Football Club on 27-09-2011 he spend four good years with the Portuguese side where he help gained promotion to the Premiera Liga, he left Estoril on 25-5-2014.

Sporting Lisbon ( 2014-2015)

Marco Silva was appointed as Sporting Lisbon manager on 21-05-2014, he was appointed after his successful tenure with Estoril where he won them promotion to the  Premiera Liga and also keeping them in the league for another two seasons .

During his stay with the Lisbon side, he was able to win the Portuguese Cup for his hometown club.

He was sacked after the cup final win just for not wearing the club colour while he was on the touchline.

Marco Silva was not giving enough time to prove his worth as was only working for just a season but despite this, the 42 years old was able to win the Portuguese Cup which is know as Taca de Portugal for the club in 2014-2015 season.

Olympiacos Pireaus ( 2015-2016)

Marco Silva short spell with Olympiakos was a success and this rank as one of his best job in his career.

He signed for Olympiacos on July 8, 2015, during this stint, he guided the Pireaus side to the Greece Super League title.

Hull City (2017)

Soon after  Mike Phelan was sacked as Hull City manager as the team were struggling in the bottom of the premier league table, Marco Silva was appointed to take charge till the end of the season.

His first game in charge ended in a 2-0 victory over Swansea City in the FA cup third round followed by another victory against Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Marco Silva also led the club to their first win over Manchester United since 1974, getting a surprise 2-1 victory over the Red Devil in an FA cup semi-final first leg but the Tigres lost the return leg 2-0  and failed to advance to the final.


Marco Silva was confirmed as the head coach of Watford football club on 27 May 2017 on a two years contract, due to the club excellent start to the season, he was linked with a move to Everton in November.

The club form started dropping as the club were only able to picked just 5 points from 10 matches which put the club on brink of relegation and was accused of being distracted by a move to Everton and was sacked on 21 January 2018 with the Toffees agreeing to pay £4m as compensation.


Marco Silva was confirmed Everton manager on a three years contract on 31 May 2018.

His stint began with a 22:0 pee-season win over Austrian youth side ATV Irding .

His first season with Everton ended in an impressive 8th place finish with one of his notable result being  a 4:0 home win against Manchester United , the club biggest victory over their rival since a 5:0 win in 1984.

After a 5:2 lost to their city rivals Liverpool, he was immediately dismissed as the club was left in 18th place on the log on 5 December 2019.


Marco Silva was named Fulham football club manager on 1 July 2021 on a three years contract with the club being demoted to the Championship.

The Portuguese manager was handful to the taking the club back in the Premier league where they remain till date.
